Model NATO ChallengeDATE: Tuesday, March 23, 2010 TIME: 8 a.m.-2 p.m. LOCATION: Webb Center - Old Dominion University
Free and open to the public
Local Norfolk high school juniors, seniors, and college freshmen are chosen through an essay contest that demonstrates their knowledge of NATO and its member Nations to serve as Student Diplomats in the Norfolk NATO Festival. As Student Diplomats, they will each represent one of the 28 NATO member nation's interests in the Model NATO Challenge, a spirited debate modeled after real NATO problem solving techniques. The Student Diplomats will be judged based on their essays and performance at the Model NATO Challenge. The top 6 candidates will receive a scholarship award to be applied to the college/university of their choice.
Directions
From the Naval Base- Take Hampton Blvd towards downtown Norfolk. Turn right onto 49th Street. Shortly after turning onto 49th Street you will see the Foreman Field parking garage on your right. Webb Center is located across 49th Street from the Foreman Field Garage
Parking
Free parking is available in the parking garage located by Foreman Field on the corner of 49th Street and Bluestone.
Attire for Student Diplomats
Appropriate attire for representing your country, school, and family with honor. Pants/skirts with blouse or dresses are appropriate for women (no mini-skirts, shorts, midriffs or inappropriately revealing neck lines). Slacks and collared shirts are appropriate for the men. No jeans for men or women, please.
Friends & Family
Please encourage friends and family to attend the Model NATO Challenge. They may come for the entire program or just stay for a portion.
